Do you remember last year's Boat race? Me on telly? DB with his injuries? Well no excuses last week and he was lucky enough to be able to escort me! Now it's SO smashing to live in Putney, almost like being by the sea - but without the horrid wind!
This year DB had a buddy in the Cambridge boat, Jamie (oh dear!!!!) and we were going to have a spot of late lunch with his girlfriend Faye, as we knew that he would be rather tied up for the afternoon one way or the other!!! The eternal problem for me was what to wear? - it's always SO tricky to go from a standing event to a smartish sitting one which might then go on a bit later.
Now nobody will believe me here - but I didn't wear a frock, or a skirt! I remembered the winds that really just whistle up the Thames from years gone by, so this gorgeous leather jacket paired with my favourite jeans did me proud…the sumptuous collar kept me looking chic but super warm - and imagine later in the evening when the jacket was safely stowed away in the cloakroom, my silk puff sleeve blouse and a bit of sparkle and I was raring to go. As the day went on the layers came off and I stayed as stylish as poss! Now we had such a laugh we were in tears by the end of the night - as was poor old Jamie, bless him.
