Goodness me! I've been back a few weeks now, and I've not done a proper blog! That said Rachel said I might of well have not bothered as I've spent SO much time on the phone since I've been back!

Well remember when I said that I wasn't going to be wearing my maxi dress much in the Scilly Isles? Well by day two, it was blisteringly hot, so I went down to the dear little internet café in Hughstown on St Mary's and actually ordered one from Frock! It's SO amazing - the sands are white, the sea is that lovely light-aqua shade, and yet it is the UK! - All good things like cream teas and red phone boxes are in abundance!

Everything is sent over to Scilly by boat, post included, so Rae was able to deliver direct to DB's folks house - and I was able to be wearing this lovely maxi dress (now in the sale) as well as this pretty bubble frock which I was reserving for Soph's nuptials (and caused all the hoo-hah about wearing white to somebody else's wedding!)

Of course I had to have these lovely chain-strap leather sandals (also in the sale!) - more glam-iator than gladiator, and my croc-leather sling-back sandals which were great on our last night posh meal-and-final- walk-across-the beach.

There are only 5 inhabited islands in Scilly, and you have to go between them by boat - from the lovely old harbour on St Mary’s. We ended up dragging Miles and Andi along as well, so it was very Swallows and Amazons as we sailed over to lush beautiful Tresco, and very Famous Five as we had lashings of clotted cream for tea! We got lost on St Agnes, and as we struggled up the farmhouse track (no not in my mules!) we ended up in the dairy, making the butter we'd bought the day before - and also delicious ice cream!

The food was absolutely superb! Lots of fresh fish and loads to drink as well....and the birdlife was amazing. Huge flocks of birds we just don't see in Putney any more - Thrushes singing away, sparrows (what happened to them?) and even – yes…puffins - with their decidedly eighties-beaks! Mondrian influenced I reckon, but DB told me to be quiet! We didn't see the Storm Petrels, but having been to Madeira, it really was their loss they didn't show, as the Scilly Isles are my favourite islands EVER!
